Is Halloween just for kids? I dont think so!

I have never had a single memory of me being in a Trick or Treat event when I was a kid. Perhaps the boom of this marketing strategy just emerged a few years back. The only childhood memory I have of Halloween would be watching the Halloween special of Magandang Gabi Bayan and spending hot All souls day at the cemetery, making candle wax balls.

Because of this, now that I have had the liberty to be creative and be crazy as I could be, I have realized that I have been having so much fun making costumes for Halloween. Possibly because I never had enjoyed dressing up on costumes for this occasion when I was a kid.

Well just want to share some photos of the costumes I had for the past years. I would have to say I have been enjoying this kid's occasion hefts!

Halloween 2009
(My favorite costume so far. I love Betty Boop!)

Halloween 2010
(I won best costume, wahahah!)

Halloween 2011
(Pinaka effortless, hehe)

Yes yes you can laugh! Kasi ako natatawa din eh! :))

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This book has been in my bag for like forever and I've been trying to finish it as soon as possible. Having this busy busy schedule that I am having right now, I only get to read portions of it, like a page or two whenever I'm on the road, waiting for a ride, or on my lunch break.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is written by an American novelist Stephen Chbosky whom which I thought was very much inspired by one of my favorite novelist Jack Kerouac, for his writing style presents so many ideals of the Beat Generation, well I was right for he mentioned Kerouac's book On the Road in this novel.

The main character Charlie is an introvert freshman (thus the description wallflower) that was taken under the wings of two seniors, Sam and Patrick, who opened up his eyes in seeing the real world. Along the way, he see's the life of an ordinary kid, being exposed to the joys and hardships of a teenager.

There was totally nothing in Charlie's personality that I can relate to, well aside from the peculiarities of his thoughts when things become awkward and weird. Maybe because I can never classify myself as a wallflower. He embodies the naivety we perhaps all experienced as a young adult in which we were still trying to balance being between a kid and an full grown. I love the fact that his character is pure and at the same time thirsts for something wild and adventurous. I love the fact that he keeps his childlike attitude but never emits childishness. I like how his letters in this novel make me feel. Or perhaps he reminds me of someone full grown but with a very childlike attitude. and yes, I definitely miss that man... :( The way he narrates how he feels about things that made him happy and the things that made him disappointed is something that I think all of us should have. He looks at things positively all the time and shakes off negativity by doing something productive like reading or studying (kinda nerdy but beneficial)

I think im still in the middle of finishing it but I'd definitely find time to continue this weekend. By the way, I was so happy to know that a movie adaptation is filming and this will be finished by 2012! Emma Watson will play Sam which I think is just so perfect! I'm ecstatic!!!!

Something to look forward to in 2012!!!

Pizza Hut's Tuscani Pizza Exclusive Meet and Greet Shamcey Event

I was invited to attend this event by Pizza Hut Philippines exclusively for bloggers. I have been seeing the new Tuscani Pizza by Pizza Hut in which the gorgeous Ms. Universe 2011 3rd runner up Ms. Shamcey Supsup stand as their lovely endorser and I am literally swooned by that heavenly pizza she was eating for that TVC. Well, how can I possibly say no to a win-win offer. Pizza + Ms. Shamcey? Definitely a go!

The lovely Ms. Shamcey introducing the new Pizza Hut Tuscany Pizza

The event was held in Pizza Hut Bistro in Glorieta 4 and almost 50 bloggers showed up for that event. We were received well by the courteous staff and organizers of the event.

The organizers also introduced the Flavor Your Life contest in which special prizes such as Ipad2, Iphone4, DSLR camera, trip for 2 to Boracay and 20,000 worth of GC's from Araneta Center. Please click here for more info.

Alright I know youve been wanting to see more Shamcey photos so here we go!

Shamcey is stunning! She embodies beauty and sophistication but her simplicity made her radiant. She was very friendly and you can see how at ease she is mingling with the bloggers. And oh, she personally served us the Tuscani Supremo Pizza.

Supremo Pizza (Php 349, Php 549) -piles on nine choice toppings including beef, roasted bell peppers, onions, pepperoni, smoked ham, black olives with garlic and olive oil, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Superbly Supremo!

Premium All Meat (Php319,Php499) - loaded with juicy bacon, Italian sausage, salami, beef, pepperoni, and smoked ham over fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. (excuse the pasta in this photo, but heck its also good.)

Im a pizzaholic (if there is such a term) and The Tuscani Pizza is perfect in my opinion in a way that the crust is not too thin, just enough to hold the hefty toppings (which I totally dig in a pizza), and the flavors are balanced.

The Tuscani Pizza is available in 5 Flavors:

Premium All Meat
Gourmet BBQ Chicken
3 Cheese Bacon and Spinach
Roast Beef

Please click for the complete Pizza Hut menu.

Well who says im gonna let that night pass without me posing with the beautiful
Ms. Shamcey Supsup!

It was one of those times when your senses are heightened with pleasure. My eyes were satisfied, seeing a pure Filipina beauty and my taste buds gratified by a great pizza. Indeed Pizza Hut Tuscani Pizza is a perfect choice if ones needing a pizza fix!

Thanks so much to my girls Kay and Miriam for being present at the event. Also to Nick of for the invitation.

I survived this Tuesday!

I just simply love it when unexpected emotions fill my days. Unpredictability made me sustain this ever boring life and it wasn't different as how it is right at this very moment.

Sometimes it pays to be deluded in ways that it can actually save you from something realistic and boring.

Most times I imagine myself being in a reality TV show where people I meet, events that takes place, and situations that arises are simply subjects that was introduced so that this days episode will be somewhat interesting. Remember Truman from the Truman show? I feel exactly like that.

Earlier this morning, I have expected quite a good day but someone started my day being a bitch. Ignored it then go on with work. After an hour, another jerk ruined it, again, ignored then went back to work. Dum di dum di dum, this too shall pass.

Ive thought about recycling. Its good right? But is it really good? I dont like garbages. I mean re using what 'others's already used? Nah. I want something brand new.

I said I hate garbages but I love them. Dont get me wrong. :D

I was right all along. I was never wrong. Thats why I wasnt disappointed at all. It pays to think negatively and not to be foiled than be positive and then be thwarted. I know I should have not trusted fully, says my instinct that is, and yes it was never ever wrong.

To end the night, Im doing a Jason Statham marathon. I just had my dinner, now im having my dessert. Oh boy so ever sumptuous. How can I say no? I just survived this Tuesday. Thats because of Jason.

Isnt he hot? Tssss. sizzlin!

Images of Ilocos

Mga labo labong photos on the road. Enjoy!

Food Trippin : Cafe Uno (Vigan, Ilocos Sur)

The very humid Vigan temperature made us all exhausted and hungry. I have been hearing about Uno Cafe from some people who visited the place and they told me that they serve good Ilocano dishes in very affordable prices. Thing is, I dont know where exactly is this place but Calle Crisologo is very small and finding our way to Uno Cafe isnt that hard. One "ading" from one of the souvenir shops also suggested we take our lunch there and directed us to that place and, viola! Lunchtime.

On our way to Vigan, me and my companions were talking about some must try dishes and good thing everything that we talked about is in the menu.

Cafe Uno, Uno Grill, and Kusina Felicitas are all the same and so the food that they offer can crossover.. We were surprised to see that the menu they showed us have all these restaurant names but the server told us they are just all the same. Cafe Uno basically serve pasta, pizza and other western dishes, Uno Grill serves mostly Asian dishes and grilled foods while Kusina Felicitas have Ilocano dishes on the list. Of course we opted for the latter since we really intend to sample the local cuisine.

Cafe Uno is a quaint cafe found in one of the side streets in Calle Crisologo. The place is indeed tiny which sits only about 15- 20 people. But I love it! Its cozy and justified the fact that youre in Vigan with its very old fashioned interior. The place is cool and very comfy.

A very small entrance door.

The spiderwebs are for Halloween ok? Not because the interior is old. Hehe.

Small tables for small groups, and for people who still manage to have a date. (who are they?) :))

Now lets talk about the food! I can say that they serve affordable and delicious local dishes. Serving size is good for 2-3.

Poqui - poqui (Php 90) - somehow like a "tortang talong" or eggplant omelet but with lesser eggs. Has tomato and onion with it. I love this dish!

Bagnet (Php170) - deep fried crispy pork belly. OMG this dish is the BOMB! The skin is crackling and the meat is very flavorful. Never ever miss this whenever in Ilocos.

Vigan Longanisa (Php90) - their signature sausage in this part of the Philippines. Savory and garlic-y.

Sinanglao (Php175) - beef soup thats has the taste of sinigang (with its faint sour taste), nilaga (because it boarders a simple soup like that) and papaitan (with its papaitan like aroma). I love this soup! Very refreshing to the palate.

We ended our meal with this superb brew of Benguet Arabica (Php 40) served with balikutsa. I think this is one of the best brews ive ever tasted so far. Oh God im still dreaming about this till now. Hehe.

The coffee was served with balikutsa, a local sweetener made from sugarcane. Not as sweet as refined sugar but theres something in it that made the coffee creamy. Took a bite of it before I diluted it in my coffee and it somehow tasted like merengue.

Every dish we order were superb! The humble flavors reflects the humble way of living in this region. Cafe Uno did a very good job in preparing these local dishes. I would definitely be back here again on my next visit.

Cafe Uno is very near the historic Calle Crisologo. Just go ask the people around for direction and im sure they'll be happy to help you.
